I have been bad about posting lately as I have been busy traveling and getting ready for some large shows. I just realized I need to pull a name as I have reached my 50 followers goal. Thank you to everyone who is following my blog!!! I will have my daughter assist me in the pulling of the name of the person who will win the $25.00 gift certificate to any of my stores. We will be posting it tomorrow. Then I will be announcing a new way to get into another drawing. Check back to see if you are the winner.

Students
Every year for the last few years I have gone to Phoenix to teach as a visiting artist at a high school. It is always a challenge to come up with something new for the kids to do. I have used the Steampunk them as it is always something they seem to enjoy. This year I created a tag that they could use. We discussed the difference between and Icon and a Logo and I had them all create an Icon that represented themselves to be showcased on their tags. I thought I would share a few of their amazing pieces. It is only a sample of the 160 students. I must say I was so impressed at what they came up with.

My Awesome friend Kath invited me to the Dougy Centers New Home opening cellebration last weekend. She generously donated her time and talents painting murals throughout the new center. The photo above of the heart monitor is one of her many murals throughout the house. The Dougy Center provides support in a safe place where children, teens,
young adults, and their families grieving a death can share their
experience.
Another artist Richard Cawley created this piece
It is an appreciation tree to honor all the generous donors.
I just wanted to share this piece because it was so Steampunk.
While approaching the center we noticed someone pulling up and I just had to take some photos. I don't know if this is Mr. Cawley or not but he sure made an amazing machine.
If you would like any information on the Dougy Center click here. THE DOUGY CENTER this is a wonderful organization and I am so proud to know Kath and thankful she shared this amazing place with me.

Happy New Year to everyone! Good things are happening. I awoke this chilly Washington Morning to find I had a notice from Twitter that K.W. Jeter is not following me. For those of you that don't know how big that is, this is why I am so Excited.....
Kevin Wayne Jeter (born 1950), known both personally and professionally as K.W. Jeter, is an American science fiction and horror author known for his literary writing style, dark themes, and paranoid, unsympathetic characters. He has written three (to date) sequels to Blade Runner.
BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANT IS....Jeter is the first to coin the term "Steampunk,"[2] in a letter to Locus magazine in April 1987, to describe the retro-technology, alternate-history works that he published along with his friends, Blaylock and Powers. Jeter's Steampunk novels were Morlock Night and Infernal Devices.
This is an actual Twitter feed conversations with him: I cut and pasted sorry for the mess.

@kwjeter You created the term "Steampunk"?
How did you come up with that? What did you mean by it? Happy with others' interpretations?
@kwjeter It was
an off-the-cuff response to all the cyberpunk fuss. And I think what others have
done with it is great!
@kwjeter Though it surprises me how far the "steampunk"
thing has traveled, I am pleased so many find it fun.
It sure made my day that he started following me.
I would love to hear of good things happening to you since the new year... please share. :)
